Balatonfured is a Hungarian spa town on Lake Balaton’s north shore. The State Hospital of Cardiology, on Gyógy Square, dates from the 1870s. Outside, the neoclassical pump house dispenses water from Kossuth mineral spring. Lakeside Tagore Promenade was named after prominent Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore, treated here in the 1920s. The town’s many 18th- and 19th-century villas include Mor Jokai Memorial House.
